- Help Wanted -
Boy, do we need it …
We are always looking for good ideas and we're not too proud to beg, or at least apply a liberal dose of Lutheran guilt. (It was a joke; please don't send us hate mail) But in all honesty, we'd like to hear from you. There is strength in numbers and because of your participation in the Men's NetWork; we have the "numbers." We need a variety of stuff and while the majority of it will only gain you our heartfelt gratitude, the Bible studies can actually put some cash in your pockets. Here's what we're looking for:

BIBLE STUDIES
Ever had an idea you'd like to see come to life in an original Men's NetWork video Bible study? If so, this is the place where you can learn more about what we are looking for and how to submit you study for production consideration.

HOW-TO INSTRUCTIONS
Asking for directions when lost will most likely cost you your man card, but getting help on planning an event or doing a project is "research." There's a BIG difference! Is there something that you do well, that your expertise might be particularly helpful to someone? If so, we'd like your help putting together some How-Tos. These brief guides are all about making things simpler and easy to do.

These How-Tos are kinda like the online equivalent of asking your next door neighbor, who happens to be a car mechanic, how to change your brake pads. The Men's NetWork realizes each of us have different aptitudes and interests … so "help a brother out" by sharing your expertise. Take a minute and read through our existing How-Tos to see the kinds of things we're talking about; then send us your version of "building a better mousetrap." Click here for examples.

BACKROOM CONVERSATIONS
If you are a pastor or counselor, consider yourself a little edgy, and have experiences that you know would benefit other guys, we need your help for guys who are dealing with really tough and personal situations. We're talking about sensitive and highly personal issues that may offend but none-the-less need to be dealt with, which require an experienced response. If you're ready to help with some serious issues, we need you.

The Back Room is an online feature in the making. What it will contain are frank (read: not preachy) replies from Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod pastors and counselors on difficult topics that guys don't want to talk about in a small group (or even with their best friend). The topics aren't going to be pretty, but often quite the opposite: porn, booze, drugs, cheating, divorce, unrelenting guilt, pregnant children. The replies given here will serve as an initial response to the types of questions guys have -- but don't know who to ask, short of visiting a pastor (if they even have one) or seeing a professional counselor. We know we have loads of pastors out there using the site, who would be great at this. This may be an opportunity for those who are familiar with certain types of issues to lend their expertise in a way that could help other guys facing similar issues. For more information, (or to submit a sample of your style), contact mensnetwork@lhm.org.

FOCUS GROUP PARTICIPATION
Periodically, we go out of our way to have people tell us what they think -- good or bad. We do this by soliciting feedback from individuals around the country. We've done polls and surveys, but we want to expand the pool of feedback to include our Men's NetWork Bible studies, while they are in development. We then take this information, and it helps shape our final product.

The Men's NetWork wants to expand our testing to current users of other studies. This new focus group will review our in-process Bible studies. We'll do this over the Internet, so don't let geography be a consideration. The feedback and observations we receive is worth its weight in gold -- both in directing production decisions and in providing ideas for future Bible studies. If you'd like to be one of those voices from the field that helps guide our efforts, please contact us at mensnetwork@lhm.org.

FACEBOOK CONTRIBUTOR
Our Men's NetWork Facebook page is a strange animal. It's an interesting concoction, containing theology and other stuff to make you laugh, think or both. We have a strong following on our Facebook page, but we're always looking for more ideas and contributions.

For those of you who've been there, thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments. For those of you who haven't tread the humorous, insightful and sometimes just plain weird waters of our Facebook page, check it out. To see it for yourself, go to www.facebook.com/lhmmen. Chances are good you will find something there that piques your interest or gives you a chuckle.
Do you have a great photo, an interesting link or an astute observation? By all means, send it our way to wayne.palmer@lhm.org.

GOT SOME GOOD STORIES?
A story left untold is destined to obscurity. How have the resources provided by the Men's NetWork been a benefit to you? That's right! We're not above basking in accolades, even when we've asked for them.
How do you see the power of the Gospel unexpectedly making a difference in your neighborhood? We know there are stories out there, and they can inspire and encourage your brothers. Are there any resources you found on the Men's NetWork that have helped you in particular? If you have a story you'd like to pass along to share, send us an e-mail at mensnetwork@lhm.org.
